|Straightedge Support Blocks
To adjust the height of my jointer knives, I balance a straightedge on the jointer table. But I have trouble keeping the straightedge upright as I work. I solved this problem by making a couple of simple support blocks.
As you can see in Fig.1a, the support blocks are just a couple of square scraps of wood with a saw kerf cut into one side. The saw kerf is sized so that the blocks fit over the straightedge, as shown in the photo.
A support block straddling the straightedge at either end, as shown in Fig. 1, holds it upright on the jointer table. This makes adjusting the knives an easier job.
