|Belt Sander Fence
When I used my stationary belt sander to sand the edge of a board, it was hard to keep the edge straight and square. So I solved this problem by adding a fence to the side of my sander.
As you can see in Fig. 1, the fence is just an L-shaped piece of plywood screwed to a couple of support arms. To attach the fence I drilled and tapped a couple of holes in the back side of the sander and then bolted it in place. (You might have to do a little shimming to square the fence to the sanding belt.)
Now by holding my workpiece against the fence, I can easily get a square edge.
